do something

I’m feeling compelled to do something. I’ve really been into the friendfeed stuff lately. What I want to do is use all the systems that friendfeed supports and post some thoughts on those things. I’ll try to do one a day.

state of the internets

I’m not so sure a blog is necessary anymore.  Between flickr, facebook, google reader, twitter, friendfeed, seesmic, youtube, and whatever else; I don’t know what there is left to say.  Twitter has taken most of my need to say something that I used to use a blog for.  I can do short bursts there and not worry about being overly meaningful like I do when I blog.  Fortunately I can use my twitter updates as my facebook status, too, so people know what’s going on even though they don’t use twitter.  The only thing I can see needing a blog for is for longer posts that delve more into the idea.  However, I could see using youtube or seesmic for that if I could setup a quick webcam.  Am I more of a writer or videographer?  Not sure.  Anyway, I started this blog to put my longer thoughts down that is separate from my regular blog which is the family one.  Not that anyone looks at that one.

So my question is how do you get the people you know to use the same social networks that you use?  How do you explain twitter to people who barely know what a blog is or what flickr is.  What’s the most important social network type system?  FriendFeed seems to incorporate most of the other items, so is that the one I should focus on?
